Response to Intervention (RTI) is a process that promotes early identification and targeted intervention for students who are experiencing difficulty meeting academic and/or behavioral standards. School districts have been working to develop and implement the RTI initiative over the last few years and a flurry of questions continues to arise: Which intervention count? What kinds of assessments can be used? How will this affect student learning? Will we have to change our instructional practices? Isn't this what we should have been doing all along? On September 22nd, Maine ASCD will be hosting a special HANDS-ON program which will try to answer all these questions.
