Networks

Maine ASCD NetworksModeled after the highly successful ASCD Networks, the Maine ASCD Networks are member-initiated groups designed to unite people around a common area of interest in the field of education. Maine ASCD Networks allow participants to exchange ideas, share information, identify and solve problems, grow professionally and establish collegial relationships.

With a goal of remaining flexible, fluid, and based on the needs of its participants, each network will be operated independently and provide different resources to its members.

The first group to express interest in becoming a Maine ASCD Network are members who serve as the literacy leaders and coaches around the state. Maine ASCD Board member Peter Lancia has worked with a number of these people as he facilitated study groups for literacy leaders for the past two years. "This is a natural fit," Lancia explained, "...rather than creating another new organization, this group of highly dedicated educators can come together under the Maine ASCD flag and still work together to meet their needs."

The Maine Literacy Leaders Network began on April 27, 2007. Check out the Maine Literacy Leaders Network.

Groups or members interested in creating their own Maine ASCD Network should contact Executive Director John Brandt.
