Maine ASCDThe Benefits of Membership

You are invited to join the nearly 800 Maine ASCD members working to improve the quality of education in our state. Your membership benefits and services include:

  • A professional association with colleagues statewide which enables members to share resources, explore new ideas, and face challenges together. In recent years we have used these connections to establish study groups and visitations to showcase Maine schools that are doing great work.
  • Join Maine ASCDDiscounted registration fees on Maine ASCD Conferences, Workshops, Institutes and Academies. Our professional development activities cover topics of great importance to all Maine educators and provide in-depth training and development in assessment, curriculum development, instruction and leadership. Our programs respond to the needs of Maine educators by enlisting the talents of the nation's most reputable presenters and trainers. Over the years, Maine ASCD has offered workshops and presentation from national experts like Art Costa, Tom Guskey, Bob Marzano, Debra Pickering, Jay McTighe, Eric Jensen, Alan November, and Carol Ann Tomlinson, to name just a few. To attend a national conference with these speakers would cost thousands of dollars. Maine ASCD is able to bring them to Maine for a mere fraction of that cost. And, don't forget to use our on-line registration service.
  • Enjoy the benefitsCommunications and Information through the Maine ASCD News, a publication that furnish timely information about educational issues and a forum for trends and innovations that affect you - right here in Maine. The Maine ASCD News is published several times each year exclusively for our members. We also offer members the on-line resources and the Maine ASCD Weblog.
  • Special publications such as Maine ASCD Briefing, a publication of the Issues Screening Committee, which provide a research-based, in-depth analysis of major trends in Maine education.
  • Join us today!A subscription to nationally-recognized, award-winning Journal of Maine Education (JME). The JME is a highly-respected source of professional information and the premiere forum for discussions about issues important to Maine educators.
  • An opportunity to join one of Maine ASCD Networks, member-initiated groups designed to unite people around a common area of interest in the field of education. Networks allow participants to: exchange ideas share information identify and solve problems grow professionally establish collegial relationships
  • Connection with the premier international organization of educational professionals the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development - ASCD. As the affiliate, Maine ASCD provides representation from the State of Maine on all issued brought forth to the ASCD Board of Directors and Leadership Council.

Types of Membership

You can be a member today!There are several levels of membership from which to choose:

  • Individual Membership: ($40.00 per year) This level of membership includes all of the members benefits listed above. Members have the privilege of serving on committees and running for office in the association.
  • Comprehensive Membership: ($260.00 per year) This level of membership includes all of the benefits of the Individual Membership plus a Maine ASCD Voucher Account worth $250.00
  • Be a part of a great associationLeadership/Instructional Team Membership: ($450.00 per year) This level of membership includes a membership package for five individuals plus a Maine ASCD Voucher Account worth $400.00. Each of the five members receives the benefits of an Individual Membership.
  • Student Membership: ($15.00 per year undergraduate/$25.00 per year graduate) This level is open to fully matriculated undergraduate and graduate students only. Membership include all membership rights and privileges. Annual fee is $15.00 per year for undergraduate students and $25.00 per year for graduate students. These fees may be waived by the Board of Directors. Evidence of student status is required. Student members of Maine ASCD enjoy the same rights and privileges as all members.
  • Don't delay - join todayRetired Membership: ($15.00 per year) Current members of Maine ASCD who have retired from the field of education are invited to change their membership status to Retired Member. The membership fee for Retired Membership is $15.00 per year. This fee may be waived by the Board. Retired Members of Maine ASCD enjoy the same rights and privileges as all members.
  • Common Address: ($60.00 per year) A reduced fee is available to two members sharing the same residential address. Each member has full member privileges, however one set of publications and materials are sent to a common residential address.
  • Gift Membership: Acknowledge a colleague for their hard work and commitment to Maine schools by purchasing a Maine ASCD membership at any level. More info about gift memberships.

How Do I Join?

To join Maine ASCD, simply fill out an on-line Application form. Or, you may download and print out a copy of the Membership Application [PDF].

Mail your membership application with check, credit card (Visa/MasterCard), purchase order or Maine ASCD voucher to:

ASCD members may also join using the "joint" membership category. Details about "joint" membership can be found on your ASCD membership renewal form or by calling ASCD at 1-800-933-2723.

Members of ASCD, living in Maine must also join Maine ASCD to be entitled to the benefits of our state affiliate.

Please note that Maine ASCD does not offer Institutional Memberships - all memberships must be in an individual's name. And, special incentives and ASCD vouchers may not be used to purchase Maine ASCD products and services.

Give a Gift MembershipIf you are an Educational Leader, perhaps you are looking for some way of rewarding the hard work of your educational staff. Maine ASCD offers Gift Membership - use the standard Membership form an indicate it is a gift, and we will send a special acknowledgement to the receipient.
